Winters is a small city with big charm located in rural Yolo County and the western Sacramento Valley in northern California. Here is a taste of Winters through photos I took this summer.

In between farm-to-fork restaurants in Winters are wineries and breweries.

Almost always in view are mountains, orchards, and vineyards.

During summer in Winters, fields of sunflowers bask in the nearly always sunny weather.

This summer, Winters was quieter than normal due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The downtown area of Winters, on Main Street, was quickly blocked off and filled with picnic tables, misters, and shading, to allow for outdoor wining and dining.

Especially during the summertime, just beyond Winters, in Napa County, Lake Berryessa provides a place for hiking and scenic adventures. Nearby Napa and Sonoma offer world-class wine experiences and welcomed breaks from the Sacramento Valley heat.

One of the best parts of Winters in summer, though, is the sunsets over the Vaca Mountains.
