Located about 100 miles north of San Francisco in California is remote Anderson Valley — a mountainous, tree-lined, and peaceful region known especially for its Pinot Noir and other wine varietals.

As you’re enjoying the steep hills, varied forests, and perhaps some coastal fog, here are five wines to try in the region.
Bee Hunter Wine
If you’re looking for unique wines in a welcoming and laid back setting, Bee Hunter Wine is the perfect spot for you. They have a tasting room located on Highway 128 in Boonville, California, offering a wonderful variety of red, white and rose wines served by engaging and knowledgeable people. The Highway 128 location is also steps away from several small markets, restaurants, and other tasting rooms to enjoy.
Domaine Anderson
Domaine Anderson wines are organically and biodynamically made. The tasting room—which has an artful interior and breathtaking exterior — offers a great experience in getting to taste a variety of Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. Its location on Highway 128 in Philo, California, is within walking distance to several other wineries and tasting rooms including Drew Family Wines, Goldeneye, and Smith Story Wine Cellars.

Drew Family Wines
Drew Family Wines is conveniently located within The Madrones, which is filled with tasting rooms, dining, and guest accommodations in Philo, California. Definitely worth a visit, the quaint Drew tasting room offers small production, cool climate reds and whites to try — most notably single vineyard Pinot Noirs and Syrahs — all of which are made and served by knowledgable, down-to-earth people.
Goldeneye
If you love Pinot Noir and sweeping vineyard views, then Goldeneye is the perfect place to visit for a tasting. While the location is close to other wineries, the environment feels remote and the colorful landscaping serves as a peaceful backdrop for a wine tasting. The tasting includes several Pinot Noirs made from grapes grown in the varying climates and soils of the Anderson Valley. The subtle differences make it hard to choose a favorite!

Roederer Estate
When you need a refreshing break from red wine, visit Roederer Estate, the California outpost of Champagne Louis Roederer. At its tasting room — among beautiful mountainous and panoramic vineyard views — Roederer offers a nice variety of well-balanced sparkling wines.
