I’ve built social media followings from hundreds to thousands. I’ve implemented strategy and increased engagement. I’ve covered events and special programs, fellowship and professional programs, student experiences, campus life, and more—all with strategy, focus on the audience, and attention to detail, style, and to the overall brand.

Here are some examples of social media projects and campaigns.

Fundraising

To complement an email campaign I developed targeting donors and prospective donors for a new conference travel fund for graduate students, I put together a social media campaign celebrating the previous awardee experiences and encouraging participation in an upcoming fundraising event.

Social Media

Web

Graphics used a quote from the student on the impact of their experience and an image of them at the conference. The social media posts linked back to a brief story on these student experiences—and more information on the conference travel fund and how to donate.

Global Experiences

On-Campus Engagement

High-quality, action-oriented photos engage audience and create more awareness of global experiences on campus.

Experiences from Abroad

Coordinating to share high-quality images of experiences from abroad celebrates student global experiences and student photography—and creates more awareness of program locations.

Program Campaigns

Managing a team of student photographers, writers and communications assistants, I provide robust communications planning and implementation for fellowships and other programs, including social media coverage. For the six-week Mandela Washington Fellowship, we provided high-quality photography, live Tweets, Instagram stories and fellow “take-overs,” and Facebook posts for signature events to go alongside web stories and features. This particular fellowship coverage led to the highest web and social traffic and engagement ever for the organization.

Alumni Engagement

Often alumni of fellowships or programs are very willing to share photos, experiences, and stories, and in return fellow alumni, colleagues, and families are engaged online.

Graduate Student Experiences

Research

Genuine student experiences are popular and lead to more engagement on Instagram. Before an interdisciplinary research conference for graduate students, alongside email marketing, I put together a social media campaign to raise awareness of graduate student research and encourage participation in the conference, which brought together 400 students from all the colleges and schools.
